Batik Tools and Materials

1. Cloth mori

Is a fabric derived from natural fibers.

2. Dyes

Useful for coloring batik. There are two kinds of batik dyes, namely natural dyes and artificial (synthetic) dyes.

Natural dyes use ingredients derived from plants, such as noni root, Tingi wood, indigo leaves (indigo), and others, while synthetic dyes are types of naphthol, indigo sol, Procion, and Remazol.

3. Tub(Bucket)

4. Malam(Wax)

Malam is a special wax material for batik as a fabric color barrier that makes the pattern visible.

Malam has a brown color consisting of a mixture of paraffin, pine resin, and animal fat.

5. Canting

Canting is like a pen for drawing wax on cloth, namely canting Cecek, canting, Klowong, and canting wall.

6. Frying pan

A small concave and round frying pan to melt the wax/wax.

7. Stove

Process of Making Batik
