Tampak Siring Temple Bali

Tampak Siring Temple Bali is a Balinese Hindu temple in Gianyar Bali, its famous with holy water. This beautiful temple complex located in Manukaya village, the central Bali. Built in 960 AD, it is also a silent witness to the history of the ancient Balinese kingdom during the Warmadewa Dynasty.

Tampak Siring Temple has a holy water source within the temple area. During the dry season, this water source continues to flow to the area around of Manukaya village. Tampak Siring Temple is one of the world’s tourist destinations that you must visit besides Kintamani Volcano.

History of Tampak Siring Temple Bali

This holy water emerged in the era of the ancient Balinese kingdom led by the king of Wayadenawa. It is said that king mayadenawa was a mahogany king who opposed Hindu influence. And reject religious teachings and other religious practices. Which finally angered the gods, then the god Indra came down to earth to fight and destroy mayadenawa.

Mayadenawa felt overwhelmed and fled from the Indra’s army through the Petanu River to Pakerisan to the north of Tampaksiring. Tampaksiring comes from 2 words ‘Tampak dan Siring’ which means feet and siring which means sideways, describing an episode when the fleeing king left his footprint on the hill.

It was here, through its magical power, Mayadenawa created a poisoned spring where many Indra soldiers died from drinking water. Seeing many of the people who died immediately Dewa Indra stuck a stick into the ground. Where the purification of Holy water gushes out to heal troops. And even brought some of them back to life.
